Game “God of War” terpilih sebagai The Game of the Year atau game terbaik tahun ini dalam ajang penghargaan permainan digital The Game Awards 2018. Event tersebut digelar di Los Angeles, AS.
God of War berhasil mengalahkan lima games lainnya yang masuk nominasi terbaik tahun ini, yakni “Assassin’s Creed Odyssey” buatan Ubisoft Quebec, kemudian “Celeste” produksi Matt Makes Games, “Marvel’s Spider-Man” dari Insomniac Games/SIE, “Monster Hunter: World” buatan Capcom, dan “Red Dead Redemption 2” produksi Rockstar Games.
Dari lima nominee itu, Red Dead Redemption 2 jadi pesaing terberat God of War. Dalam ajang ini Red Dead Redemption 2 juga mendapatkan beberapa penghargaan dalam kategori berbeda.
Selain dinobatkan sebagai game terbaik tahun ini, “God of War” juga menerima penghargaan sebagai the Best Games Direction dan game aksi atau petualangan terbaik (the Best Action/Adventure Game), mengutip pengumuman resmi The Game Awards.
